Our Journey Begins: Why I'm Building Parallax Perspectives in Public

Welcome to the first entry in our "Our Journey" series.

I'm excited (and admittedly, a little nervous!) to openly share why I've started this consultancy, why I'm choosing to build it publicly, clearly outline our services, and explain our approach to launching.

Why I Launched Parallax Perspectives

Parallax Perspectives began at a critical turning point: redundancy. Losing my job and essential support from Access to Work was daunting and deeply unsettling.

I realised I needed to take control to challenge myself, scare myself, excite myself, and ultimately force myself to grow. I wanted to turn what felt like the worst of times into something genuinely transformative.

Also, let's be real, there's only so many times you can rewatch The Devil Wears Prada to soak up that Meryl Streep boss babe energy and Stanley Tucci mentor vibes without actually doing something about it, right?

And while we're here, I'm going to be honest, I don't like Andy. I appreciate the journey, but I'm not entirely sure we're meant to like her completely (please don’t come for me, this isn't about Anne Hathaway herself!)..

Amid all that uncertainty and fear, something important became clear: I needed a space built around genuine transparency, enablement, and authentic inclusion, for both myself and others. Admitting this need openly feels vulnerable and even selfish, but it's exactly why Parallax Perspectives exists.

Through my experiences of impostor syndrome and navigating systemic barriers, I am determined to create spaces rooted in integrity, collaboration, and strategic clarity.

Why Build in Public?

Building in public means openly sharing every step of establishing Parallax Perspectives. It means posting regular, transparent updates on LinkedIn about my redundancy journey, honestly discussing the realities of setting up business systems, and sharing behind-the-scenes insights on branding, client interactions, and website creation. My goal is to demystify entrepreneurship, foster authentic conversations about business practices, leadership, inclusion, and accessibility, and promote meaningful connections within the community.

In a way my business is my accountability buddy right now!

Soft Launch and Our Approach

Currently, Parallax Perspectives is in a soft launch phase. This intentional and careful launch enables us to test ideas, refine approaches, and establish solid foundations, ensuring that our work authentically aligns with industry needs. It also gives me time to grow into this role and fully realise the consultancy's potential.
